Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.
Ephesians 3:8
The term “unsearchable” in Greek encompasses a depth that is difficult to properly communicate in English. The Amplified Classic version offers a more comprehensive understanding. It says, “…the unending (boundless, fathomless, incalculable, and exhaustless) riches of Christ [wealth which no human being could have searched out].” This description paints a vivid picture of the amazing magnitude of Christ’s wealth, “…the riches of Christ!” These are extraordinary riches beyond the grasp of human exploration.
How can we even begin to search out Christ’s riches? Where would we start, and where would we end? It all depends on the one being described. And if Christ is indeed God, then we are dealing with riches that are truly beyond measure. Remember, we’re one with Him. Thus, our heritage is one of unimaginable wealth and abundance in Christ!
The Lord Jesus is designated as the heir and lawful owner of all things: “[But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order]” (Hebrews 1:2 AMPC). According to Matthew 13:44, He purchased the entire field, and thus, the entire world belongs to Him.
In Romans 8:16-17, the Bible says, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ….” This means everything that belongs to Jesus belongs to us. This is our inheritance, and it’s important that you lay hold of it. We walk in the footsteps of Abraham, for the Bible says, “…if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29). The entirety of the earth belongs to us in Christ. It clarifies Paul’s bold assertion in 1 Corinthians 3:21 that “…all things are yours.”
