HOW TO LET THE WORD OF GOD TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE

“And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:… Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower: When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side”.

MATTHEW 13:3-4, 18-19

In explaining the parable of the sower to His disciples, Jesus revealed that he who received seed by the wayside, which were quickly eaten up by birds represents those who hear the Word but don’t understand it. And because they don’t understand, Satan comes immediately —not later—and steal the Word sown in their hearts, and they lose out.

This is why it’s important that you’re easily persuaded by God’s Word. Some people are hardened and headstrong. They even pride themselves in their stubbornness. You’ll hear them say, “I know myself, nobody pushes me around or tells me what to do.” Unfortunately, this negative attitude also affects their reception of God’s Word.

1 Samuel 15:23 shows us what God thinks of such stubbornness: “…rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” Don’t be stubborn and “unpersuaded” by the Word of God. Hebrews 3:18 tells us how the children of Israel couldn’t enter into God’s rest because of “unbelief”: “And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?” The Greek word translated “believed not” in this portion of scripture— “apeitheo” —literally means “unpersuadableness”; they couldn’t be persuaded to act on God’s Word and follow His instructions. No wonder He called them stiff-necked (Exodus 32:9), and swore they wouldn’t enter into His rest.

If you’ve been stubborn towards God’s Word, it’s time for you to repent. Fall on your knees before the Father, tell Him you’re sorry, and ask Him to forgive your stubbornness. Then make a conscious decision from today to be easily persuaded by God’s Word: “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21).
